CHARM is the premier meeting for the communication and translation of health-related research practice in the ACT. This (usually) annual event facilitates collaboration between health researchers, students, policy makers, carers, consumers, industry and clinicians from a diverse range of health disciplines.
CHARM is hosted by the Centre of Health and Medical Research ACT Health, in collaboration with Canberra Health Services and our academic partners The Australian National University, University of Canberra, UNSW Canberra, Australian Catholic University and Australian Institute of Sport.
In 2021 CHARM will be held as an online event (via Webex) from 27 – 30 July. Posters will be on display at Canberra Hospital and through an online display.

DAY 1 Tuesday 27 July | ACT in profile: big initiatives
CHARM 2021 will kick off by showcasing big initiatives from partner universities.
12-1pm Keynote speaker: Dr Jordan Nguyen - A human’s guide to the future and removing barriers to disability.
DAY 2 Wednesday 28 July | Mental health research focus day
Explore the latest research in clinical and service delivery, and technological innovations in mental health care. A panel discussion will conclude the day.
3.45-4.45pm Keynote speaker: Dr Andy Cope - Rising stronger: Using positive psychology to build resilience.
DAY 3 Thursday 29 July | ACT research in focus
Shining the spotlight on medical, allied health, nursing and midwifery research.
12-1pm Keynote speaker: Prof Kim Usher - Psychosocial impact of emergencies and disasters.
DAY 4 Friday 30 July | ACT research in focus
The final day focuses on 3 Minute Thesis, medical and translational research sessions and HARC.
12-1pm Keynote speaker: A/Prof Barbara Mintzes - Bias in clinical trials research.

CHARM awards dinner
A special CHARM awards dinner, which will be held in line with ACT Government COVID-19 advice, is scheduled to take place on Friday 30 July at The Boat House, Barton. Tickets will be available to purchase soon, so please save the date!
